PIONEERWAYS ADVENTURE ~  hour field trip, 10:00am-1:30 pm, Mon.-Sat., all ages welcome, meets CA Curriculum Standards, includes a 1-mile roundtrip train ride on the SMITH RANCH & JULIAN RAILROAD.

"Go West!" After being greeted at SMITH RANCH in Julian, your group will travel with a pioneer guide into the 1800's American frontier. Learn about nature and wild edibles on the Secret Trail. Help build a log fort in the wilderness. Turn sod at Charlie's farm. Care for the horses. Climb aboard the SR&J narrow gauge mining train for a scenic ride to our Julian Pioneer Mining Camp. Additional activities include exploring our real 1870's gold rush mine, helping with the pioneer home-life, panning for gold, joining the Pony Express and more. Bring a sack lunch, come in costume, and be prepared for a genuine pioneer gold rush adventure!

Cost ~ $14 per person. One free adult for every 15 students. Parents are encouraged to attend. Please have one person handle money and tickets. Advanced reservation is required.

A group size of 20 or more and a 10% nonrefundable deposit is needed to reserve a date. Please phone 760-765-2288 to check on program availability. (Smaller groups may be added to an existing date at $16 per person.)
